It is almost impossible to a complete fat free diet as even vegetables and fruits also contain some quantity of fat. It is good, as we need some amount of fat in our diet also. Some components of fat are important part of our body cells and are used to make hormones. Fat helps to insulate our body and some amount of fat around our major organs have protecting effect on them. Some vitamins (vitamins A, D, E and K) are also fat-soluble and are likely to be found in foods with a high fat content. Very low-fat diet also means that intakes of these vitamins are often extremely low, too.


Additionally omega-6s and omega-3s are the two acids, which cannot be made by the body. So they must be supplied in the diet. These fatty acids are very essential for us as small amount of them are needed for growth, protection against some diseases and for healthy skin. Vegetable, nut and seed oils are likely to be fine sources of omega-6 fats, while oily fish is a great source of omega-3 fats, important for helping to prevent blood clots.


There are even some facts to recommend that omega-3 fats can help weight loss, by helping to maintain blood sugar levels stable. This means cravings are less likely to occur with the result that you won’t want to constantly snack in an effort to beat the munchies.


That aside, extremely low-fat diets are not very palatable so you’re far more likely to give up your diet and go back to the same eating habits that made you gain weight in the first place.
